Poem – ‘Babel’ (Magma 32)

by Mark McGuinness on 6 June, 2007

My poem Babel appeared in Magma 32.

The inspiration was Bruce Nauman’s ‘Raw Materials’ exhibition at the Tate Modern. Nauman lined the walls of the Turbine Hall with loudspeakers playing a motley collection of voices – you can hear a virtual version of the exhibition here.

I checked out your poem. I read it three times and enjoyed it more each time. Kudos.

Thanks Ivor, glad you liked it. I’ve worked on the poem since then, the revised version may see the light of day sometime…

Wow!

Totally blew me away.

You play with words and they melt.

Just love the way how form keeps changing to the rhythm and the ideas.
Feels like I’m really there in that event, and in that rain.

Amazing.
